Hua Hin Property - Current and Future
Directions
The Hua Hin
area—embracing a long swoop of beaches
and near-beach hill land running down
from the north of Cha-Am to beyond
Pranburi—has gone through an amazing
resurgence over the past four years. The
property market here was as badly
affected as anywhere in Thailand by the
property and currency crashes of the
mid-late 1990s. Unlike the Eastern
Seaboard that had the ongoing industrial
developments of ports, fuel production
and manufacturing to help sustain its
local economy, all the Hua Hin area had
was tourism, fishing and a limited
amount of agriculture. Nowadays, the
picture is markedly different on both
sides of the Gulf, with both Hua Hin and
Pattaya having become major retirement
destinations for numerous Europeans and
Thais. Building construction is feverish
in both centres, with many new housing
estates, condominiums, golf projects and
shopping centres now rising out of the
ground. In turn, with an expanding Thai
economy, development is rife on all
other fronts—fresh shop house
developments, new car showrooms and a
general upgrading of existing property.
The civic authorities are also building
and upgrading roads, providing new
sports centres, building hospitals and
generally improving infrastructure on
all fronts. |
